About CVA

Campus

Carrabassett Valley Academy is nestled in the Western Mountains of Maine, at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain, the largest ski resort in the state. As the northernmost ski and snowboard academy in the East, CVA benefits from its unique location amidst rugged terrain. This environment has fostered a close-knit community connecting the town, the resort, and our academy, creating a supportive and dynamic setting for our student-athletes.

King Cummings Campus

Carrabassett Valley Academy's King Cummings Campus is named in honor of H. King Cummings, a founding chair whose vision helped develop a school that enriches the community and supports student-athletes in reaching their highest potential. The 22-acre campus includes the Webber Academic Center, where classes are held, and Murfey Hall, which provides three floors of dormitory space.

Dedicated in 2003 in recognition of Paul and Carol Fremont-Smith, Jr. This versatile space provides opportunities for athletic practice and recreational activities for the CVA community.
ATRIUM
The Atrium connects the Webber Academic Center to Murfey Hall, serving as a welcoming common area for students. Here, you can enjoy breakfast or a snack, chat with friends by the fireplace, or do homework on a comfy couch. The Atrium also features a game room with foosball, ping pong and a billiard table, offering a space for relaxation and fun.

CAMPUS GROUNDS
The 22-acre CVA Campus Grounds offer a wide range of recreational opportunities right outside your classroom. Enjoy an outdoor skate ramp, trampoline, mountain bike trails, swimming spots, and a rail hill for winter fun. Favorite weekend activities include evening campfires, studying in a hammock, and playing smashball.

MURFEY HALL
Constructed in 2007, Murfey Hall offers three floors of spacious dormitory rooms and dorm parent apartments, with stunning mountain views. The building includes common rooms on each floor for relaxation or studying, as well as a community kitchen for shared meals.

ANTI-GRAVITY COMPLEX
CVA student-athletes defy gravity every day in our Anti-Gravity Complex (AGC). This one-of-a-kind facility features Olympic-quality trampolines, a skate park and bowl, a weight room, an aerobics room, a climbing wall, and an indoor court. Combining controlled anti-gravity with exceptional coaching, our AGC helps student-athletes master new tricks and refine their techniques.
